In Hamarsdalur where the rocks crawl down south side of the river just by the old sheephouses at Fossbrekka. Þorsteinsgjót is the name if a place just a bit further inside the valley. Oral speech imitates that a worker at Hamar , by the name of Thorsteinn, caught a horse and rushed by the river of Hamar. The turks followed him to a deep section in the river just outsside of Hamarssel. Þorsteinn rode his rode swimming with his horse across the Hamar River . The Turks stood on the banks and threw an axe after him and this is why this place is called axedeep ( Axarhylur also Axe lagoon or Crawlrock lagoon) But Thorsteinn escaped unharmed and went up a cast called Thorsteinsgjót .He thus went up to Snædalsöxl and was safe ."
